Unakite is a beautiful variety of jasper. The pink coloration derives from abundant amounts of orthoclase found in the stone. Epidote is the mineral responsible for the rich almost pistachio greens found in the stone. Unakite has been used for thousands of years and can be found in numerous structures throughout the world, including the steps of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.
